Last day in Massachusetts! 6/7/2017

Woke up to clear(ish) skies at the lodge. For the first time since we got there, you could actually see more than 100ft into the distance!

The fog soon rolled back in,  but at least the rain had stopped. We hit the trail and soon found it to be a mess from the previous two days of rain. For much of the descent down Mt Greylock, the trail resembled a flowing stream.

At the bottom of the mountain,  there was a sign offering bikes for hikers to use in town. Needing to resupply  (and eat lunch) Farley and I found the yard with bikes and road into town.

The trail got worse on the climb out of town. More running water, but now we also had long sections of deep, cold mud to slog through.

The effort was worth it as we crossed into Vermont, only three states left!

After a 9 mile steady climb, there was a beaver pond off to the side of the trail. A whole family of beavers were swimming around and playing.

I attempted to clean/dry everything off and camped near the Congdon Shelter for the night.
