We woke up early today to start hiking before the heat came. We were low on water and were continuing along a dry stretch of trail. It was a bit windy to start, just ask Amy’s hat!
We made good time in the morning and found our water source for the day. Volunteers come up and leave pallets of bottles water to help hikers avoid an otherwise very lengthy dry section. Even so, it was a 14 miles stretch to get to this point.
Later in the day, Amy found a cave!
We also passed a trail milestone, the 100 mile mark!
At the end of the day we caught a ride into Ranchita to pick up a 6 day resupply for our next section at the Montezuma Valley Market. They were super nice and had everything we needed to resupply. (For any hikers reading this they had about 10 different kinds of tuna packets! 10!!)
And a yeti!
Tomorrow we are stopping by the post office to pick up our microspikes and ice axes for the next section, the San Jacinto Mountain range. We’ll be over 9,000ft of elevation and there is still ice and snow at that elevation.
Thanks again for everyone that is following our adventure! We love hearing from you all and are glad you’re enjoy our posts!
1. I would not go in that cave, 2. Congratulations on reaching the 100 mile mark. That’s great! and 3. It looks like the trail angels DO bring patio furniture! How angelic!
