We saw the sun rise by Sallie Keyes and Heart Lakes this morning before climbing Selden Pass. This pass had the least snow yet!
One of Sean’s trekking poles broke, so he fashioned a new stick.
On the other side of the pass, we took a break while Sean fished.
We then hiked downhill the rest of the morning. Many parts of the trail were flooded with streams.
We then hiked up to the Bear Ridge trail which we took down to Vermilion Valley Resort (VVR). We had originally been planning on hiking straight to Mammoth Lakes, CA, but we were slowed down by the snow storm. We decided to take it easy and resupply in VVR instead of rushing to Mammoth Lakes.
We descended down steep trail to a swamp.
After five miles we reached Lake Edison. Unfortunately, the lake’s level was low enough that there was no ferry, but we got to hike by the lake.
We hiked about two more miles by the lake into VVR and made camp for the night. At VVR we got a free beer and a great food! We had a fun night meeting friendly people and catching up with other hikers.
