Day 58: 5/21/2021

We woke up to snow this morning even though the forecast said the snow storm wouldn’t start until 11am. It was so cold that we took some extra time to break down camp and leave Rae Lakes. As we hiked it continued to snow.

And snow.

And snow.

Around noon we had only walked a few miles and realized we would probably not make it over Pinchot Pass today because of the extra time it took us to find the trail.

We hiked down until we reached a suspension bridge.

Then, we ascended a few miles uphill to make camp before Pinchot. We had to cross several streams, one of which we had to take off our socks and shoes and ford barefoot. It was so cold!!

Finally, we reached camp around 4:30p. We decided to hide in our tent and call it a night.

Talk about numb feet! How did you ever get them warm again?
