We’re taking a few days off in Kennedy Meadows to sort our gear and resupply plan for the Sierra Nevada range.
The Sierra section is several hundred miles and is as beautiful as it is remote. We’ll post updates as soon as we make it back to civilization.
We enjoyed the desert, but we’re glad the desert portion of the trail is complete. We’re looking forward to the mountains, passes, forests, and most importantly, water in the Sierras!
I can’t wait to see more green! And water!!!!
and smiles!
Can’t wait to see pictures from the Sierras. Have enjoyed all your pictures so far especially the ones with your smiling faces!?
Great blog you two. Hiker-trash class of 2012 here, enjoying the reminiscing. Stay safe in the sierras, and mind the skeeters!
Thanks! Yea hoping we get through before they are too bad!
And FEESH! Hahahaha
You guys are awesome! Congrats on making it so far. Good luck for the next part. Best wishes from France.
Enjoy reading your blog! Many moons ago, I was responsible for building 80 miles of the PCT. One of the sections was from Hwy 178… to the forest service lands at Kennedy Meadows going north – worked for BLM.
Was curious to know if there were any viable water sources with the drought in this area…north of Qwens peak…the Spanish Needles section particularly…..where did you find water?
Enjoy reading your entries!
We’re so happy you’re enjoying our blog! Thank you! After Walker Pass we pulled water from Spanish Needle Creek, Joshua Tree Spring, Fox Mill Spring, Manter Creek, and the Kern River. After Owens we pulled water from Dutch Meadow and the Chicken Spring Lake.
Thanks for taking time along your trek to create this blog…maybe the best one I’ve seen. It’s informational, inspirational, and motivational; popped into my feed a few days ago and I’ve enjoyed the better half of a day just catching up.
Wishing you a safe and healthy journey going forward – enjoy the Sierras!
Thanks so much! We’re glad you like our blog!
Thank you! Glad you are enjoying it 🙂
today the 15th is armed forces day. Semper Fi! Hope you two are refreshed. Watch out for the snakes as I know how much you like them. 700 miles done and only a few more to go. Be safe and have fun. Dad
Thanks! We’re back into the snow now, thankfully haven’t seen a snake in a bit
Happy birthday. Enjoy the trail and we will celebrate when you get home.
Thanks! We can’t wait to see you both again after we finish
Happy Birthday, Sean! We’re toasting you from afar!
Thanks!
