Day 35 4/28

The forecast called for temps in the 70s so we decided to hike the LA Aquaduct section in the daytime.  It’s over 17 miles across (normally) hot, windy desert alongside the Los Angeles Aqueduct. After leaving Hiker Town we had to road walk a couple miles to reach the aqueduct itself.

The aquaduct started as a river in a man-made ravine.

After a while, it changed to a large pipe that was partially buried.

Halfway through the morning the pipe was completely underground, and we were left with a long straight road to walk in the sun.

The trail passed through some nice sections of Joshua trees

Around midday, we stopped for a break and clung to a little bit of shade.

After 17 miles of the Aquaduct, the trail passed through a large wind farm.

In addition to huge windmills, we found all kinds of things laying about.

Towards the evening we worked our way down into a canyon and camped near a small stream ending the day at 24 miles. Our new longest day!
