Day 29 4/23/2021

We took a day off in Wrightwood to enjoy the little mountain town and rest up after our biggest mileage stretch so far. We averaged over 20 miles a day during the five days stretch from Big Bear to Wrightwood.

The town was very friendly. Mountain Hardware had a hiker lounge on their back deck and a place to “park” our packs.

Jesnson’s Market had everything a hungry hiker needed.

The Wrightwood market gave out free corn dogs and hotdogs to hikers.

And the Village Grind offered free coffee! They also had very good breakfast sandwiches.

We sat on the patio and had breakfast with another hiker “Splash” who was heading back on trail later in the morning.

We relaxed in town and worked through our regular resupply chores then went to the Raccoon Saloon for taco night.

After learning of a 9 ball pool tournament, I signed up and ended up winning!

Afterwards, we called it a (late) night and headed back to our room for some sleep.
