Day 11 4/4

With a 17+ mile day ahead of us, we set an alarm for 5am…but ended up snoozing until 5:30am.

We broke camp and made our way back onto the trail. We rock hopped across Aqua Caliente stream several times before climbing back into the hillside.

We hit another big milestone today! Amy now has a trail name “Ghost Fingers” on cold mornings, her fingers turn white from the cold. Even more apparent when wearing her fingerless hiking gloves.

This lizard was nice enough to pose for a picture

The trail was very overgrown today. Brush, bushes and thorns scraped my sunburned legs all day. (She was smart enough to wear pants.)

We stopped at “Mike’s place” for water around midday. He’s a local trail angel that keeps a huge water tank full for hikers breaking up another long dry stretch. We walked down to his house to get put of the sun. He had a cooler of beer and pop for hikers. We also heard he cooks breakfast and dinner for hikers if they happen by at the right time. We missed a meal, but we’re thankful for a cold beer!

We hiked on another 5 miles to our campsite for the night, a dry sandy stream bed. We are slowly increasing our mileage; this being our biggest day yet at 17.1 miles!

I get white fingers, too!!!! Once you lose that circulation…it seems to take forever for it to come back….

Ghost Fingers, you probably have Raynaud’s syndrome. Your cuz gets something very similar with her hands, most likely Raynaud’s , too. Her fingers turn yellow when cold. Must come from Dads family because I would only pass along the good genes from my side.?
