Woke up to warmer temperatures and alot of fog. Most of the fog was below me though and made for some incredible views.

I noticed a listing in the guidebook for a campground (Middle Creek campground) a short distance from the trail and hitched a ride over around lunch time. There was a small store and kitchen. Even though it was the afternoon, they were still happy to make me pancakes, eggs, bacon and toast.  They even threw in some free hashbrowns!

After lunch I hit the trail and began what would be an all day climb.  The sun came out and sweat started dripping into my eyes so I grabbed my extra bandana and tried a new look.  I’m not normally bandana guy, but it got the job done today.

About five miles up the trail, I stopped at Bryant Ridge shelter, one of the largest on the AT. It was two stories and even had a porch!

I only intended to stop for a quick break, but stayed over an hour after hearing thunder and seeing dark clouds in the distance.  Another thru hiker, Negotiator, stopped by and he too decided to wait out the weather.

It was after 4pm by the time I continued on down the trail.  At this point, the 22 mile day that I had planned, seemed a little out of reach.  So I stopped at Cornelius Creek Shelter for the night, after a 15 mile day.
