Woke up to clear skies and sunshine, that never gets old!

Early in the morning, I came across a rocky outcropping with great views of the valley below. I scrambled up to the top and had a great view to start the day.

After digesting lunch, I hit the trail again and walked through a nice section of pine trees.

At the top of the mountain, it looked like there had been a fire at some point.

I made it to the Hightop shelter around 7pm and found it empty. I strung up my hammock, filled up on water at a great spring nearby and set about getting dinner ready.

I happened to check the shelter for a logbook and found an unopened bottle of rum! I felt like captain Jack Sparrow on the deserted island.

Arrrrggh!

Tonight was a good night! Going to try and push for a big day tomorrow. Hoping to make the Big Meadows wayside for dinner tomorrow.  Its about 20 miles away and they close around 5pm, so it’s going to be a bit of a challenge, but that’s what I’m out here for!
