This morning we went out to breakfast before heading to a coffee shop for a few hours. We got a ride from there to the airport in Redding where I said goodbye to Sean. Our ride then took me to the trailhead near Burney. The trail was sandy and flat.
After a few hours of hiking through heat and crossing many dirt roads, I came upon this sign.
Shortly after, I crossed Burney Creek although the creek bed was dry.
I hiked on to Burney Falls. I had to leave the trail for a few tenths of a mile, but it was worth it.
After taking a short break at the falls, I continued back on trail and passed over a dam.
The trail crossed an empty paved road and wound back into woods.
I hiked along ridgeline until reaching Rock Creek.
I collected water and hiked a few more tenths of a mile to tonight’s camp.
