Day 81 6/13/2021

by | Jun 15, 2021 | Pacific Crest Trail

We started our day with a nice sunrise lighting up the mountainside across from our campsite.

In the morning we hiked across a barren section of the mountain.

The scenery turned a little greener as we worked our way towards Carson Pass.

As we neared the pass, we could see several snow chutes that we would soon have to traverse.

The snow was pretty soft in the afternoon sun which helped us gain some traction as we picked our way across the steep snow sections.

We made our way through the snow and crossed into the Carson Pass Wilderness at the summit.

In the late afternoon we came across a ranger station and were treated to a cold drink and some fresh fruit by the volunteers running it. We also got an update on our mileage so far. Almost to the halfway point!

Hiking on trail magic energy and a flat section, we made it to our camp near a small lake by early evening. Thankful for a strong wind that kept the mosquitos away.
