Day 55 5/18/2021

We woke up to a cold morning with wet gear. We dried as much of it as we could then packed up and headed out. Luckily, it was a clear sunny day and we warmed up as we hiked.

We worked our way up and out of Kings Canyon enjoying great views of the surrounding snow covered mountains.

We left the PCT and followed the Bullfrog Lake Trail that would lead us up over Kearsage Pass and eventually down to the Onion Valley trailhead.

After a pretty good climb full of switchbacks, we reached the pass.

The scenery changed a bit as we hiked over the pass and down the back side, leaving Kings Canyon behind.

As we dropped elevation we found ourselves back in a pine tree forest before making it to the trailhead.

From the trailhead we caught a hitch about 50 miles to the town of Bishop where we will resupply on food, dry out our gear and prepare for the next section of the Sierras!
