Day 39 5/2/2021

by | May 6, 2021 | Pacific Crest Trail

Woke up to a beautiful sunrise over the lower desert. The wind was still whipping over the mountain and would remain strong all day.

We saw a small snake laying in the middle of the trail. It looked really flat almost like it was run over. We saw it flick its tongue a few times, but other than that it laid still while we walked around it. We think it might have been a baby rattlesnake.

We passed through an area under construction. The wind farm was building a new road through the mountains.

Luckily, it was a Sunday, and no work was being done. There were a lot of boulders that had been knocked down hill by bulldozers.

After getting through the construction area, the trail took us along at ridge overlooking the forested mountains in the distance.

Near the end of the day, this little guy posed for a picture.

We ended the day at 22 miles happy but worn out from long miles in the wind.
