Day 36: 4/29/21

We left our camp around 7:30am and began climbing out of the cold canyon. Much of the trail was sloped or eroded, but we were able to see lots of wildflowers!

After climbing it became apparent that today would contain lots of pointless ups and downs until we reached the parking lot to hitch to Mojave, CA.

Around 10:45am we reached a fantastic oasis! Thank you to the trail angels who maintain this water cache and campsite!

We hung out at the oasis for about an hour before resuming our hike. The trail held more wildflowers, uphills, and downhills.

I even caught a picture of this horny lizard!

Mid-afternoon, we reached a trail register from which we were able to find contact information for some local trail angels and coordinate a ride into town. Close to the trail register was a parking lot with trail magic! We got ice cold Bud Lights and cinnamon rolls from Apple Jack who thru-hiker the PCT in 2018. Thanks so much Apple Jack!!

Our hitch into Mojave was a super nice trail angel who is also a nurse! We made it to Motel 6 around 4pm and decided we would zero tomorrow to resupply and hopefully pick up some new gear.

Amazing little flowers – so varied! I especially like your picture of Spike the Lizard although I wouldn’t want to pet him.
