Woke up early to avoid the biting gnats, but was surprised to find them out, even on a cool morning.
The day started with a climb up Stratton mountain. It was on this summit that James Taylor came up with the concept of Long Trail, which would eventually inspire the Appalachian Trail.
There was a fire tower at the top with a very interesting lookout attendant.
Later in the day, I caught up with Rabbit and he found a turtle in the trail.
Towards the end of the day I found something in the guide about a skiing warming hut at the summit of Bromley Mountain and made it my target for the evening.
The summit had several ski lifts, the warming hut and excellent views of the sunset.
The empty warming hut was simple, but provided an enclosed space to eat/sleep without bugs. There were wooden benches along the interior walls wide enough to sleep on. Not a bad place to stay the night!
