Today was the first day in the Whites that started out with clear sunny weather.

It was great weather for a steep, difficult climb up to Carter Dome and the Carter Peaks

We slipped and slid all over the steep rock faces that dotted the trail. In between peaks lay alpine bogs with long stretches of foot bridges.

Along one of the ridgelines I came across my first Grouse or “Forest Chicken”

The second half of the day was fairly easy, as the trail descended fairly gradually to rt 2.

Karaoke,  Luna, Spice and I hitched a ride into Gorham and split a hotel room.
