Started the day off right,  with pancakes and bacon at the hostel. With a full stomach,  I was dropped off at the trailhead.

It started off rocky and steep as the trail crept up, down and through large rock formations.

The trail went through Cut Rock, a large rock formation that had split apart

Around lunch time,  the trail crossed the Housatonic river and passed near a park. I dtopped for lunch, but it soon began to rain as a pop up shower hit.  So I through my poncho over the table and sat it out, underneath.

After the river, I hiked on, rounding the edge of some pastures that opened to the mountains in the distance for some incredible views.

The trail soon turned uphill again  and, after receiving a heads up from some day hikers about a bear sighting, I pushed on.

I passed by a cool rock formation known as the Giants Thumb.

The last couple miles were steep and rocky up the mountain.

I stayed at the Brassie Brook shelter for the night.  Two hikers there, Awkward Turtle and Feather, had seem the bear and its two cubs on the way up.

They must have wandered off by the time I came around.
