It was really windy overnight. At one point, around 3am, the wind rocked the hammock so hard, it woke me up.
I got an early start and planned to stop at a wayside a couple miles away to eat breakfast on a picnic table and use a real bathroom
However, when I got there, everything was locked. I was just getting ready to leave, when a car pulled up. It was Peacewalker! She was still healing from her shin splints and was doing trail magic with Natural, who worked at a hostel.
They brought a Coleman stove, a cooler of drinks and food! The Natural cooked sausages and made coffee for breakfast.
I hung out with them for a while before heading back out.
Soon after leaving, it became very overcast and fog rolled in.
I stopped at a shelter for a quick break and find a Sprite. It was no bottle of Rum or beer, but still a nice surprise.
I finally worked my way to the end of the Shenandoah National Park. It was as anticlimactic as the end off the Smokies. Just a drop box for Southbound hikers to put their passes in.
The last couple miles to the hostel I was going to, were pretty uneventful.
I walked alongside a wooden foot path that must have been made for wetter weather.
I made it to the Mountain Home hostel in Front Royal around 4pm. It was run by a very friendly couple, Scott and Lisa.
$28 got me a bed, shower, laundry, shuttle to town and a hot breakfast in the morning.
I had a good meal in town and resupplied at the grocery store.
Last resupply in Virginia!
