What a difference a day makes! We woke up to cold temps, but sunshine that quickly warmed things up on the trail.

The trail crossed a grassy field before taking us back into the woods.  Aside from a couple minor climbs, the trail stayed mild.

Eventually we worked our way to the Partnership Shelter and Mt Rodgers visitors shelter (which was closed, unfortunately).

In another bit of luck, we found two bottles of Miller Light sitting in the shelter!

We hitched a ride down the road to a convenient store to grab lunch then hit the trail again.

Later in the afternoon we found one of the better springs we have seen so far.  I used my cut in half smart water, to funnel the spring into a fountain.

Later in the day, the trail brought us right underneath high tension power lines. You could actually hear the electricity humming through the lines as you walked under.

Towards the end of the day, we passed the settlers museum and stopped in the old school house.

A church group had left several large containers of food and resupply items for hikers. Toothpaste, band-aids, batteries, a cooler of pop, fruit and all kinds of other goodies for hikers!

We grabbed a couple items and pushed on to finish our 22 mile day.  I kept reflecting on the complete change in weather now that we are at a lower elevation.

And it’s only supposed to get warmer next week!
