The rain was just letting up as we broke down camp early, and hit the trail at 5:30am with plans to stop at Trent’s Grocery for breakfast and a small resupply.

The trail crossed multiple streams and rivers throughout the morning including one with a really cool wooden suspension bridge

We made it to Trent’s a grocery, a little country convenience store that also cooks food and ate breakfast.

With Dismal Falls only a couple miles away, we also bought some extra food to eat by the falls.  A bottle of wine might have also ended up in a bladder!

We found the waterfall on a short side trail just as the clouds were clearing up. It was a great place to to stop for a snack (and a drink!)

After the falls, the trail wound through some nice stands of Pine

Later in the day the trail became slowly filled with rocks until eventually you would go for long stretches without touching dirt.  It really slowed us down.

It was worth the effort though as we made it to a cliff with excellent views of the valley beneath us.

We finally arrived at Wood Hole Hostel in the late evening (but early enough for dinner!)

The hostel offered a communal breakfast and dinner if hikers volunteered to help.

We enjoyed fresh made bread, vegetable soup, and pork stir fry.

We all hung out after dinner by the fire pit for a while before calling it a night.  It was a long day but worth every step!
